Magrez Fombrauge

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Magrez Fombrauge delivers an expressive nose of crème de cassis, warm black plums and wild blueberries with touches of spice box, bay leaves and unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied with a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, it packs in the muscular fruit, culminating in a lingering savory note.

Tasted blind. Deep ruby. Slightly musty, earthy nose of graphite and dark cherry. Riper kirsch underneath. Quite a mouthful, with chewy wood tannin and sweet liquorice. Chewy and dense, yet still lined with acidity. Ripe, but not overworked.

Blackberry and blueberry on the nose, as well as notes of bay leaf and tar. Full-bodied with a savory, juicy texture, supported by elegant tannins. It shows great balance and freshness already. Flavorful finish with serious length. Try after 2024.
